Prices – Motoring Offences in the Magistrates Court

We have experienced lawyers to represent you in relation to all motoring offences.

Most motoring offences are dealt with in the Magistrates Court and are known as summary offences e.g. speeding, driving without insurance, driving with excess alcohol, driving whilst over the prescribed limit for drugs.

For a guilty plea to a summary offence our usual fee is £350.00 plus VAT. This fee includes representation at one hearing, a conference prior to the hearing and travelling to and from Court. The conference can take place on the day of the hearing or on an earlier occasion if required.

For a not guilty plea to a summary offence our usual fee is £750.00 plus VAT. This would cover representation at all hearings from the start to the finish of the case and conferences as necessary throughout the course of the case to enable that it is fully prepared for trial.

More serious motoring offences e.g. dangerous driving can be dealt with in the Crown Court as well as the Magistrates Court. Where a case is dealt with will depend upon the seriousness of it. Legal Aid may be available for such cases dependent upon a means test. We can advise you fully as to whether or not you would qualify for Legal Aid.

Free Legal Aid

Freeman Johnson is also of a holder of a Criminal Defence Service contract, which dictates that the firm provides a comprehensive publicly funded service (previously termed legal aid). Please note that free legal advice and assistance at police stations is available to all clients. Meanwhile, Magistrates representation and other legal services might be available free, depending on your income and financial resources.
